Is Dr. B right for me?

Ten important questions to ask when contemplating Cosmetic Surgery:
How to pick your surgeon?

1.   Does your cosmetic surgeon have adequate residency training relating to the field of practice?

2.   Has your surgeon completed a fellowship in cosmetic surgery ?

3.   Is the focus of your doctor’s practice primarily cosmetic surgery?

4.   Does your surgeon understand what you are trying to accomplish?

5.   Do you feel your surgeon is up to date on the newest technology?

6.   Is your surgeon involved with continuing education?

7.   Does your surgeon publish scientific articles or texts.

8.   Does your surgeon have before and after photos that you like?

9.   Have you heard anything negative about your doctor, are there charges of misconduct?

10. Do you feel comfortable with your doctor?  Are you just another number?

Evaluating the Surgical Facility

Cosmetic surgery is performed in various facilities such as hospitals, surgical centers and office settings. An accredited surgical facility must meet certain minimum standards to obtain and maintain its accreditation. Some certifying organizations include the Joint Commission (formerly “JCAHO”), the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (“AAAHC”), and the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities (“AAAASF”).

Make sure the facility you are going to have your procedure in is accredited.
