Meet Dr. Blyer

 

  Scott M. Blyer, MD is one of two dual-degree trained surgeons in  New York, Board     Certified and specializing in Maxillofacial and Cosmetic Surgery. Upon completion of             accredited fellowship training at the Willow Bend Cosmetic Surgery Center in Plano,               Texas,  Dr. Blyer established his practice, CAMEO (Cosmetic and Maxillofacial Elective           Outpatient) SURGERY CENTER, located on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan, and Long Island             in the the town of Islandia.

 


Dr. Blyer was born and raised in New York. He received his Bachelor of Science from Pennsylvania State University and his DDS and MD degrees from the State University of New York at Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine and School of Medicine.  He completed his General Surgery training at Long Island Jewish and North Shore University Hospitals, and his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency also at Long Island Jewish Hospital.  He then continued his Aesthetic Surgery training, completing a Fellowship in Cosmetic Surgery at the acclaimed Willow Bend Cosmetic Surgery Center under the supervision of Dr. Stephen Watson, renowned in professional circles as the architect of the “modern day facelift.”
 

Dr. Blyer has an impressive list of commendations, achievements and research accreditations -- more than many surgeons twice his age -- including: the Long Island Jewish Medical Center 36th Annual Academic Competition (2001), New York State Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon Award (2000), American Association of Oral Biologists Award (2000), Pierre Fauchard Academy Outstanding Achievement Award and Scholarship (1999), Dental Society of the State of New York Leadership Awards (2000), three time winner of the Patient's Choice Award (2008, 2009, 2010), and winner of the Most Compassionate Doctor Award 2010.

He has published research in medical journals including the Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology, Oral Radiology, & Endodontics, and the American Journal of Cosmetic Surgery.  He has also reviewed books for the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, a peer reviewer for the American Journal of Cosmetic Surgery, and written multiple chapters in cosmetic surgery textbooks.  

Dr. Blyer, devout Knicks, Mets, Giants, and Penn State Football fan, currently resides in Long Island with his dogs, Daisy and Duke.  When he finds free time, as rare as it is, he enjoys playing golf.
